Oracle Optimizer: What’s new in Oracle Database 12c:  Tom Kyte, Oracle
The Oracle Optimizer is one of the most fascinating aspects of the Oracle Database, as it is essential to the processing of every SQL statement. With each new release the Optimizer evolves to take advantage of new functionality and the new information made available to it. Oracle Database 12c sees this evolution go a step further with the introduction of a new adaptive approach to query optimizations. This session give a deep-dive explanation on how the new adaptive approach works. With the use of a real-world demo we will examine each components of the adaptive model and show how they help the Optimizer learn additional information during query execution that can be used not only to improve the performance of the current SQL statement but all statements.
